Adams Resigns Rancho Alamitos Job

Pat Adams, Rancho Alamitos High School basketball coach, has announced his resignation.
Adams led the Vaqueros to Garden Grove League titles the past two seasons after returning as the school’s coach in 1984. He had coached the school’s varsity from 1967-73.
“I’m resigning because of the district’s new policy of playing girls-boys tripleheaders next season,” he said. “I don’t like the idea of never getting to see my freshmen and sophomore players competing, and there’s going to be a problem getting gym time for practice.”
Administrators in the league have adopted a policy of playing tripleheaders consisting of boys’ junior varsity games, followed by girls’ varsity and boys’ varsity games on Wednesday and Friday nights next season. Meanwhile, the boys’ freshman and sophomore teams and girls’ junior varsity will play tripleheaders the same nights at the opponent’s school. The Garden Grove League is the first in Orange County to approve such a policy.
Previously, girls’ games were on Tuesday and Thursday nights and boys’ games on Wednesday and Friday nights.
Adams will remain as an instructor in Rancho Alamitos’ physical education department.
