Rancho P.V. : Landslide Plan Delayed
The start date of the three-year Portuguese Bend landslide stabilization plan will be delayed by at least a month because of the need for more planning, according to public works consultant Charles Abbott.
New topographical maps of the slide area will be prepared next month and city geologist Perry Ehlig, along with geologists from the technical advisory panel for the project, will take another look at the proposal to shift 400,000 cubic yards of soil to slow or stop the slide.
The massive grading work, originally scheduled to start in August, will not begin until September and is expected to be completed by November, Abbott said.
The $2-million stabilization project is being financed by a state grant.
