Long Beach : Athlete’s Hearing Delayed

A Long Beach Unified School District expulsion hearing for Bobby San Jose, the football quarterback arrested but not charged in an alleged drug buy at Wilson High School, was postponed Monday.

The hearing was rescheduled for Friday at the request of an attorney representing the 18-year-old student, according to district spokesman Dick Van Der Laan. San Jose, 18, has not been allowed to return to school since his arrest May 1. At stake is San Jose’s full athletic scholarship to UCLA, which cannot be tendered to a student without a high school diploma. San Jose, a senior, is due to graduate in June.
