Santa Monica to OK Eviction Rights Rules

The Santa Monica Rent control board tonight will adopt regulations to pretect tenants from unfair evictions under a state housing law that will take effect July 1. The board will meet at 7:30 p.m. at the Virginia Park Auditorium, 2200 Virginia St.
The law, known as the Ellis Act, will allow apartment owners to go out of business without rent board permission.
