Chances are “pretty good” that motorists will be diverted from the most popular section of Yosemite National Park because of heavy traffic over the Memorial Day weekend, a park spokeswoman said. A standby traffic control plan will take effect if 4,600 cars are counted in the park, Mallory Smith said. Rangers counted 4,500 cars last weekend, and “we could see that the traffic was getting congested when we were reaching our peak,” she said. “My guess is it would only be busier this weekend.”
