A Little Rhody Rhymin’
I wish to thank Charles Hillinger for the article on Rhode Island. I traded in Brown and Hopkins Store when I lived in Chepachet from 1936 to 1947, and one of the old-timers there waiting on the public was a Mr. Hopkins. He had the most wonderful cheese in a great big wheel. Father would have him cut a piece for macaroni and cheese and naturally he gave the little boy--me--a sample.
Thank you for the pleasant memories, but I would never return to the rain and snow and ice, and particularly the icy rain that made it impossible to walk, let alone drive an automobile.
