4-Day-Old Baby of Liver Transplant Patient Dies

PITTSBURGH — A 4-day-old baby born two months prematurely to a woman who recently had a double liver transplant died Wednesday, authorities said.
The 1-pound, 12-ounce boy died of multiple complications in the neonatal unit at Magee-Womens Hospital in Pittsburgh, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Except for a slight improvement Tuesday morning, the baby had been in critical condition since it was delivered Saturday by emergency Caesarean section at nearby Presbyterian-University Hospital, the spokeswoman said.
