Sheriff’s homicide detectives are investigating the death of a man whose decomposed body was found Monday night near a trail in Rincon, a Sheriff’s Department spokesman said.
An undocumented worker reported finding the body in a remote area about a mile north of Rincon Springs Road, said Lt. Bill Baxter, a homicide detective. Identifying the man or determining the cause of death will be difficult because of the degree of decomposition, which indicated it had been there “for several days or more,” Baxter said.
A preliminary autopsy showed the man died of injuries resulting from a blow to the head with a blunt object, Deputy Coroner Everett Mauger said.
