Purchasing managers see a stronger economy.

The economy improved in May, rebounding from a slow April, the National Assn. of Purchasing management said in its regular monthly report. The association said its composite index rose sharply to 54.4% from 48.7% in the previous month. a reading above 50% generally indicates that the economy is expanding.
