The Labor Department reported a month ago that non-farm business productivity had increased by 3.4% in the first three months of 1986 from the final quarter of 1985. The performance, a measure of the efficiency with which the nation produces goods and services, reflects a recovery following a sharp 4.1% decline in the final quarter of 1985.
