A dead child was found in a garbage dumpster in the 700 block of Carey Road Thursday by two people scrounging for cans. The unidentified male child, about 2 years old, was wrapped in a brown paper bag.
Oceanside police and the San Diego County coroner’s office have not determined the cause of death, but police officials estimate that the child had been dead for 24 hours. The dumpster was emptied the day before and officials say that the child apparently died elsewhere and was placed in the dumpster.
