Reagan Planning Dual-Purpose Trip South

WASHINGTON — President Reagan will visit North Carolina and South Carolina next week, the White House announced Thursday.
Deputy White House Press Secretary Edward Djerejian said the President will attend graduation ceremonies for Marine Corps recruits at Parris Island, S.C., on Wednesday, and will review recruit exercises and drills at the boot camp.
The President will later attend a fund-raiser in Greensboro, N.C., for Rep. James T. Broyhill, Republican candidate for the Senate.
Broyhill is the GOP’s nominee for the seat being vacated by Republican Sen. John P. East, who is stepping down because of illness.
