San Diego Section Softball : Madison Beats Vista, 2-0, in the Semifinals

Madison High School softball pitcher Lisa Glassford threw a one-hit shutout to defeat Vista, 2-0, in the semifinal round of the San Diego Section 3-A playoff at Escondido’s Kit Carson Park.
“(Glassford) pitched a great game. We just didn’t have our bats going,” Vista Coach Mary Trotter said.
Glassford also knocked in the winning run with an RBI double in the fourth inning off Vista pitcher Karrie Schott, who took the loss. Schott had a perfect game until the fourth.
Vista’s No. 9 hitter, Suzi Speckman, denied Glassford a no-hitter with a single in the third.
Top seed Madison (25-1) advances to Saturday’s 3 p.m. championship against Monte Vista at Helix High.
Vista closed out its season with a 16-7 record.
In other 3-A action:
Monte Vista 5, Bonita Vista 0--Second-seeded Monte Vista (20-3) cruised to the victory over No. 3 Bonita Vista (19-7) at Kit Carson Park.
In 2-A action:
Crawford 7, San Pasqual 3--Cynthia Edrozo hit a three-run triple and Gena Crise had a two-run single in the third to pace Crawford (11-9) to the victory. Edrozo also had an RBI triple in the fifth. Crise, who pitched a five-hit shutout Tuesday to beat Christian, 4-0, went the distance for the victory. Crawford will face Christian in the 2-A final at 1 p.m. Saturday at Helix High.
Christian 9, University City 3--Top-seeded Christian (23-4) easily knocked off fourth-seeded University City (16-3) at Kit Carson Park.
