General Investments America Inc., a Los Angeles-based investment firm led by a group of Australian investors, said in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing that it acquired a 14.66% stake in Forstmann & Co. of Dublin, Ga., the nation’s largest manufacturer of woolen and woolen-blend fabrics. The stake, which cost about $7.6 million, was acquired for investment purposes, although a joint venture or other combination has been discussed, General Investments said.
