BEIJING — Former Secretary of State Henry A. Kissinger, whose secret 1971 visit to China paved the way for renewal of Sino-U.S. relations, arrived in Beijing on Tuesday for a nine-day visit.
Kissinger, on his 14th visit to China, is scheduled to meet during his stay with Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping and Zhao Ziyang, the nation’s premier and acting Communist Party chief.
Chinese officials said Kissinger is touring China privately at the invitation of the Foreign Ministry.
