Chuck Sullivan, executive vice president of the New England Patriots, could face a $100,000 fine for passing on confidential information to CBS analyst John Madden, the Boston Globe reported.
During last Saturday’s national broadcast of the Patriots-Minnesota Vikings game, Madden claimed Sullivan had informed him of a decision by the executive committee of the National Football League Management Council to continue to play scheduled games if NFL players go on strike.
The executive committee had determined that anyone leaking information would be heavily fined, sources told the Globe. Several owners reportedly contacted the league office in New York demanding some action be taken after Madden’s statement.
