KFWB-AM reporter Barbara Riegle, 66, who sued the all-news station for $14 million on allegations of age discrimination, settled her suit Wednesday--one day after the trial on her charges had begun. Riegle declined to disclose the settlement figure, but said that U.S. District Judge Edward Rafeedie had pared back the number of claims and the amount of damages he would allow her to pursue against KFWB and its owner, Westinghouse Electric Corp. Riegle alleged in her suit that the station denied her a promotion to news director and later demoted her simply because of age discrimination. KFWB maintained that age was not a factor.
