A federal judge has blocked James River Corp.’s proposed acquisition of Guardian Packaging Corp. until a lawsuit objecting to the sale can be heard. The ruling by U.S. District Judge Marilyn Patel stems from a suit filed by Triangle Industries Inc., a New York packaging company, against Newark, Calif.-based Guardian. Triangle claimed that it had a contract with Guardian that should have allowed it to outbid James River of Richmond, Va.
