LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — An accused child molester who had eluded a posse was recaptured in a department store when he reportedly tried to buy a road map while still wearing leg shackles, authorities said.
Matthew Bruhin, 27, of Sebastian, Fla., was recaptured Tuesday when a store manager telephoned police to report a suspicious person, Gwinnett County sheriff’s Deputy Mike Bowden said.
Bruhin, who was being taken to Maine to face charges of sexually molesting an 11-year-old boy, had escaped Sunday when the private extradition company van he was in collided with a car and overturned near Lawrenceville.
