Arms dealer Albert A. Hakim is appealing a contempt of court order for refusing to comply with a subpoena issued by the grand jury investigating the Iran- contra affair, sources familiar with the case said. Hakim, a partner of retired Air Force Maj. Gen. Richard V. Secord in a business that helped arrange arms sales to Iran, is challenging a subpoena issued by independent counsel Lawrence E. Walsh, who is investigating the arms deals and subsequent diversion of profits to Nicaraguan rebels, said the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity. The contempt citation involves Hakim’s refusal to turn over financial records to the grand jury, said one source.
