There have been “encouraging developments” in the investigation into apparent child molestation at the San Francisco Presidio Army base day-care center, an FBI agent said. Chuck Latting said there probably will be “some news by the end of the month,” but he declined to say whether indictments could be expected as a result of the joint Army-FBI probe. About half the 85 children who attended the center have been examined for evidence of abuse. Tests reportedly showed that about half a dozen were infected with chlamydia.
