A teen-age athlete died in southern India shortly after winning three events when a flag pole he was carrying touched a live wire, the United News of India reported.
K. Satish Reddy, 17, minutes after winning the triple-jump, high jump and long jump events at an inter-school meet near Hyderabad, capital of the Andhra Pradesh state, was waving a flag to acknowledge the cheers of his friends when the pole touched the high tension wire, the news agency said.
