Sharene Johnson, 36, of Simi Valley has been appointed principal of the Religious School at Burbank Temple Emanu El at 1302 N. Glenoaks Blvd. She taught 17 years at the Heschel Day School in Northridge and has been education consultant at the University of Judaism’s Educational Resource Center.
The temple’s nursery school will hold open house Thursday from 10 a.m. to noon. It offers a choice of five-, three- or two-day-a-week programs for children from 2 to 5 years old. For more information, call Helen Rieder at (818) 352-1348 or the office at (818) 845-1734.
Donald Goor will become Temple Judea’s new assistant rabbi at a special welcoming service Friday at 8:30 p.m. Goor attended UC Berkeley. He has worked as a student rabbi at the Wilshire Boulevard Temple in Los Angeles, Central Synagogue in New York and as a faculty adviser and teacher at Louisville Catholic High School in Woodland Hills. He was ordained in May. The temple is at 5429 Lindley Ave. in Tarzana.
