Leader Says Ordaining Women Would Be Divisive

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The Archbishop of Canterbury, Robert A. K. Runcie, says the Church of England eventually may ordain women as priests, but doing so now would be divisive and endanger ecumenical relationships.
