Billy Hatcher, the Houston outfielder suspended 10 days by the National League for using an illegal bat, will not appeal the punishment, said Dick Wagner, Astro general manager.
Hatcher was ejected from Tuesday night’s game against the Cubs when his bat shattered, revealing cork inside the barrel. Hatcher will miss a key series with the Giants starting Monday. He will be eligible to return Sept. 13 for a game at San Diego.
