Simi Resident Held in 27 Burglaries

A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with what Simi Valley police called a series of cat burglaries.
Sgt. Bob Gardner said Reginald Gutierrez is suspected of burglarizing at least 27 homes since Aug. 5. Gardner said purses, videocassette recorders and jewelry were taken. Cars were taken from outside several of the homes, he said.
The burglaries took place at night while residents were inside their homes, he said.
Gutierrez was arrested Friday after police searched his Simi Valley home, Gardner said. Several items in his home linked him to the burglaries, Gardner said.
Gutierrez was booked on suspicion of burglary and was being held at Simi Valley Jail, Gardner said.
