Marathon Dancer to Boost AIDS Benefit

A marathon dancer, hoping to boogie a record-breaking 400 hours, began a “dance-athon” tour of five hotels Saturday to promote an AIDS benefit.
J. C. Stare, 31, who holds the Guinness Book of World Records continuous dancing title with a time of 375 hours, started at 10 a.m. on what he planned as a 16-day dancing spree for the AIDS Project Los Angeles Walkathon.
The plan called for him to move among five Sheraton Hotels in the Los Angeles area by van, said Marje Bennetts, spokeswoman for the hotels.
“He has to stand and dance while he’s moving,” she explained.
The marathon is a fund-raising and promotional event for the Sept. 27 walkathon. Stare plans to participate in the walk after “resting a few days,” Bennetts said.
Stare, of New York, has previously danced to raise money for Muscular Dystrophy and the Statue of Liberty.
