A 70-member surgical team began work to separate 7-month-old Siamese twins joined at the head, in an operation that doctors say has a 50% chance of succeeding. The surgery was expected to last until this morning, said a spokeswoman for Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, and she declined to release information on the twins before then. The boys, Patrick and Benjamin Binder of Ulm, West Germany, were born connected at the back of the head and share a major vein, but their brains are separate.
