Devine to Be Honored by Arizona State

TEMPE, Ariz. — Dan Devine, who compiled a 27-3-1 record as a football coach at Arizona State from 1955-57, has been named to the school’s Hall of Distinction.
Devine, 60, currently serves as the school’s new director of community education substance abuse. He assumed that job recently after serving as executive director of the Sun Angel Foundation--the school’s largest booster organization--from 1982-86.
Devine left Arizona State to coach at Missouri, where he was 99-37-7 in 13 seasons. He coached the NFL’s Green Bay Packers from 1971-74 and then went to Notre Dame, where he posted a 53-16-1 record from 1975-80 including a national title in 1977.
In 22 college seasons, Devine had a combined record of 179-56-9 for a .761 winning percentage. He was elected to the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame in 1985.
Devine will officially be inducted into the Arizona State Hall of Fame during halftime ceremonies of the Sun Devils’ Sept. 26 game here against Nebraska.
