Werner’s Goal Gives USD a 1-0 Soccer Victory

SAN DIEGO — Daemon Werner scored on a corner kick 18 minutes into the first half Saturday to give the University of San Diego a 1-0 NCAA Division I soccer victory over California at USD.

Trong Ngyuen, who was credited with the assist, took the corner kick and centered the ball in front of the goal. Two Cal players jumped to head the ball away but missed, leaving Werner open to score.

USD is 2-0; Cal is 1-1.
