A motorist was killed and four other people were injured when he swerved to avoid a table on the Simi Valley Freeway and collided with an oncoming auto.
The 59-year-old man, whose identity was withheld until relatives could be notified, was pronounced dead at the scene Saturday morning. His eastbound car crossed the center divider into oncoming traffic near Louise Avenue, said Michael Eckley, California Highway Patrol spokesman.

Circumstances of a fatal accident on the Simi Valley Freeway were reported incorrectly on Sept. 7. The California Highway Patrol now reports that the man killed in the Sept. 5 accident, Satoru Saikami, 59, of Cerritos, did not swerve into an oncoming car. CHP officials said Saikami was killed when his car was struck by a car that had swerved into his lane to avoid an object in the road.
His passengers, Toba Jiro, 70, of Portland, Ore., and Jang Saikami of Cerritos, were taken to Holy Cross Hospital in Mission Hills, said Eckley. They were in serious condition, a nursing supervisor said.
The driver of the other vehicle, Lisa Kaufman, 18, of Simi Valley, was taken to Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Woodland Hills, where she was treated and released, according to a hospital administrator. Her passenger, Danielle Adams, 20, also of Simi Valley, was taken to Northridge Hospital Medical Center, where she was treated and released, a nursing supervisor said.
