KAILUA, Hawaii — Police recaptured a prison escapee who held a woman and her 10-year-old daughter hostage at gunpoint after being chased by policemen searching a suburban neighborhood, authorities said.
Emmanuel B. Silva, 18, released his hostages unharmed and surrendered shortly before noon Saturday, police said.
Police had mounted a manhunt for Silva--who escaped with another inmate on Aug. 26 from the Oahu Community Correctional Center--early Saturday after a 15-year-old girl said Silva had kidnaped her and sexually assaulted her, police said.
