Mono Basin, Hetch Hetchy

The people need another Yosemite, and Hetch Hetchy is the perfect location. One midsummer day I was in Fresno, it was noon and my work was done. My wife and I began driving home to Los Angeles. (At that time cars did not have air conditioning.) It was so hot we drove to Yosemite instead. There it was cool, comfortable and beautiful. When the sun went down, we drove, in the cool of the evening, back into the San Joaquin Valley and home.
It was a mistake to put in the O’Shaughnessy Dam and lose the beautiful Hetch Hetchy Valley. San Francisco needs water. If they lose the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir, let’s make a deal and trade them water and power from Auburn Dam. Don Pedro Reservoir could be enlarged and the Hetch Hetchy Valley restored for vacationers as an additional Yosemite.
The O’Shaughnessy Dam shouldn’t be destroyed. A small lake at its base will add beauty to the Hetch Hetchy Valley.
