About 100 people were injured in rioting at two Belgian prisons, just one day after a related four-hour rebellion at another institution, authorities said. The most serious clash, like the earlier riot at Brussels’ Forest prison, was triggered in part by inmates’ anger over what they consider privileged treatment to be given 26 Britons being extradited for trial in the 1985 riot deaths of 39 soccer fans. Order was restored at the Saint Gilles penitentiary in Brussels and at a prison at Louvain, where the Britons are to be confined. Belgian officials have denied that the Britons will receive favored treatment.
