An early-morning fire gutted the kitchen of the former landmark Brown Derby Restaurant in Hollywood and damaged a dining area today, causing an estimated $800,000 damage.
The fire, reported at 11:59 p.m. and controlled at 2:01 a.m., was battled by about 125 firefighters from 26 companies, Fire Department spokesman Jim Wells said. The Arbat Continental Restaurant, which now operates out of the building at 1628 N. Vine St., was closed when the blaze erupted. No one was injured. “The cause is under investigation,” Wells said.
