Anaheim : Robbery Suspect Shot by Liquor Store Clerk Dies

A man who was shot in the head by a clerk last week allegedly during the attempted holdup of a liquor store clerk died Tuesday, authorities said.
Lt. Jack Parra said Richard Perez Martinez, 38, of Anaheim died at 1:10 p.m. at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, where he had been in critical condition since being shot Aug. 31.
Police said Perez was armed with a knife when he entered the Brookside Liquor Store in the 800 block of North Anaheim Boulevard and demanded money. An unidentified clerk pulled out a gun and warned the Perez to stop.
Parra said that when Perez failed to heed the warning, the clerk fired two shots. The first missed but the second bullet hit Perezin the head.
