A Chicago-area doctor with AIDS was restored to full duty at Cook County Hospital, eight months after the county board tried to remove him from his post because of the disease. The unidentified doctor was restored to normal duties after a 9-2 vote by the county Board of Commissioners. The vote came one day before a scheduled federal court hearing on a $1-million civil rights lawsuit in the case. An American Civil Liberties Union of Illinois lawyer said the ACLU still will seek a court order to ensure that the doctor will be allowed to perform his duties.
