Envoy to Costa Rica Chosen

WASHINGTON — President Reagan today announced his intention to nominate Deane Roesch Hinton, a career foreign service officer, as ambassador to Costa Rica, succeeding Lewis Tambs.
Hinton, a native of Fort Missoula, Mont., has served as ambassador to Pakistan since 1983 and previously as envoy to El Salvador. From 1979 to 1981, Hinton, 64, was assistant secretary of state for economic and business affairs. Before that, he served as the U.S. representative to the European Communities with the rank of ambassador.
