Hot on the heels of its show-stopping summer soap opera, the Iran- contra hearings, National Public Radio is following up with the sequel--the Robert Bork confirmation hearings. NPR announced this week that live gavel-to-gavel coverage of the Senate Judiciary Committee’s inquiry into the life and times of President Reagan’s Supreme Court nominee will begin at 6 a.m. (PDT) Tuesday. A spokesman for NPR affiliate KCRW-FM (89.9) said the station will not carry the gavel-to-gavel coverage but is considering whether to run a 30-minute summary by correspondents Nina Totenberg and Joe Vold before “All Things Considered” each afternoon.
