Microsemi Buys East Coast Firm for Planned Die-Processing Plant

Microsemi Corp. of Santa Ana has bought Salem Scientific Inc. of Salem, Mass., for an undisclosed amount. Microsemi said it plans to merge its Hybrid Components subsidiary based in Beverly, Mass., with Salem. The combined entity will run a die-processing and custom-packaging operation under the name of Salem Scientific Inc. and will be at the Hybrid Components facility.
Microsemi supplies semiconductor products and assemblies for the electronics, computer, telecommunications, defense, aerospace and medical markets. Salem Scientific was founded early in 1987 and has conducted only organizational and formative activities.
