Investigators for the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office have cleared City Council members of allegations by a citizens group that they held illegal secret meetings in connection with development plans for the Edwards Drive-in Theater site.
City Councilman Michael Falabrino was also cleared of allegations by the group that he had a conflict of interest because he owned property that stood to increase in value after city approval of a proposed hotel-restaurant complex on the 11.5-acre drive-in site.
Falabrino, who owns a parking lot near the site, and other council members approved the development plan in April. Citizens for Responsible Development, a grass-roots group that has fought the plan in court and with petitions, made the allegations.
