Two other CBS updates: Dan Rather’s “CBS Evening News” was the top-rated news program for the first time since April 12 in this week’s only undisputed Nielsen ranking (see below). Rather also will be getting a new audience abroad. The Japan Broadcasting Service signed a deal this week that calls for “CBS Evening News” to be shown in its entirety five nights a week in Japan.
