In some editions of Thursday’s Morning Report, it was reported that A.C. Nielsen Co. had withdrawn its weekly television ratings and ranking due to miscalculations on the company’s part. Company officials said Thursday, however, that most of its rankings this week were correct, and that the only miscalculation made was an inaccurate registering of which ABC-affiliated TV stations chose to carry the network’s “Sunday Night Movie” or the Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon. The Associated Press advised its clients late Wednesday that the entire Nielsen prime-time list was in error and that the ratings firm had withdrawn it. Nielsen said it had not intended to withdraw its weekly tabulation. (Ratings appear on Page 23.)
