America’s Cup Race in S.D.

SAN DIEGO — The next defense of the America’s Cup, the international sailing trophy recaptured by skipper Dennis Conner in Australia, will be in San Diego in 1991, it was announced today.
“In our discussions this morning, we have decided that the next America’s Cup will be in 1991. We will start the regatta the first of May and San Diego will be the site,” America’s Cup co1835886964news conference.
“It’s a proud day for San Diego,” said Mayor Maureen O’Connor.
The race will be held off Point Loma, Driscoll said.
