McCluskey Named Basketball Coach at Tustin High

Tom McCluskey, who last spring coached Fontana High School’s basketball team to its first league title in its 33-year history, has been named the coach at Tustin. McCluskey succeeds Tim O’Brien, who resigned last month to assume a similar position at Estancia.
McCluskey, 26, played for Bill Mulligan at Saddleback College, where he was the Mission Conference’s most valuable player in 1981-82. He transferred to Penn State and was the Nittany Lions’ co-captain in 1983-84.
McCluskey led Fontana to a 49-26 record in three seasons before he resigned his position in June. Fontana was 24-4 last season behind the play of 6-foot 10-inch center Sean Rooks, now at the University of Arizona.
