A 58-year-old Garden Grove man early Saturday morning killed his wife with a shotgun and then turned the weapon on himself in an apparent murder-suicide, police said.
The bodies of Clauvicio da Silva and his wife, Carmen Catarina da Silva), 52, were found in their apartment in the Pine Lake complex, 11750 Euclid St., at 11:24 a.m. According to Lt. Ken Whitman, a Da Silva relative had called police after the couple had not been seen by family and friends for two days.
Police found the body of Carmen da Silva on a daybed in the living room with a shotgun wound to the head. Her husband’s body was found on the bed in the bedroom with a self-inflicted shotgun wound to the head, Whitman said.
The shooting occurred about 4:30 a.m. Saturday morning, and Whitman said it stemmed from an unspecified domestic dispute. Neigbor Debra Labella said Saturday said she had known the Da Silvas for several years. “They were very nice people, and this is a real tragedy,” Labella said. “They were nice, quiet residents.”
