The Pope and the Angels

Patrick Mott’s Commentary article (Sept. 6 on taking the Pope to an Angels game) was cleverly done until he blew it on the last paragraph--the kicker, as we call it.

Try something like this:

The Pope can do the Angels a favor if he will drop by the Big A while in Los Angeles this trip, game or not. Offer a papal prayer that the team won’t end up in hell on its current dive in the standings. Interceding with a higher authority seems in order.
