Sidney Greenspan, 74; Founded Major West Coast Insurance Adjusting Firm

Sidney Greenspan, founder and head of what is believed the largest insurance adjusting firm on the West Coast, died Tuesday in a Los Angeles hospital as the result of a stroke.
Greenspan, who was 74, founded Greenspan Co. in 1946. The firm went on to represent many Fortune 500 companies that suffered losses and represented such celebrities as Laker basketball star Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who lost his home in a fire.
He was considered an expert in the areas of property damage and business losses caused by disaster and served as a consultant to both the courts and private attorneys.
He was a former member of the Supervisory Insurance Adjuster Division of the state Department of Consumer Affairs and was a past president of the National Assn. of Public Insurance Adjusters.
Survivors include his wife, Helen, three sons, and a granddaughter.
