Construction has started on Bell New Elementary School, a two-building, 1,000-student facility for the Los Angeles Unified School District, at 4242 Clara St., Cudahy, with funding from the State School Bonds of 1984.
The $5,598,000, 60,000-square-foot school was designed by Lane Architectural Group of Woodland Hills and is scheduled for completion next June.
The winning bid was nearly $900,000 lower than what was originally allotted by the state, said Byron L. Kimball, director of building services division for the school district.
