Canyon 16, Corona 14--The Comanches scored two fourth quarter touchdowns to pull out a come-from-behind victory in Fred Kelly Stadium at Orange.
Canyon, which trailed 7-3 after three quarters, went ahead on a 1-yard touchdown run by Dale LaRue with 32 seconds played in the fourth. Five minutes later, the Comanches took a 16-7 lead on a five-yard run by quarterback Joe Furukawa.
Corona narrowed Canyon’s lead to 2 with 49 seconds left when quarterback Scott Longerbone threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to Robert Sensich. Canyon’s Dustin Arnold recovered the ensuing onsides kick to ensure the Comanches’ victory.
Canyon gained the lead late in the first half on Darren Beltran’s 35-yard field goal before Longerbone gave Corona the lead in the third quarter on a 2-yard run.
